Punta Cana Day 6: Watching the Sunrise

I got up early this morning to watch the sun rise. I had set my alarm to wake me at 0530 for the 0630 sunrise but my bowels woke me up at 0528. I think my digestive system has been gradually getting worse over the course of the week. Hopefully everything will get back to normal after I return.
 
The weather was warm and partially cloudy, which made for a pretty sky. Unfortunately the clouds were also at the horizon blocking the view of the sun. I could basically tell when the sun rose but I was unable to capture it. There is always tomorrow.

I spent the rest of the morning catching up on sleep and dealing with some stomach issues. Things have slowly gotten worse as the week progressed. I hope I recover quickly when I get back home.
I did mange to make it to the beach in the afternoon. It was too hot for me, but after a quick dip in the ocean two things happened: the sun got blocked by a huge cloud and spots became available on the volleyball court. I ended up spending the rest of the afternoon on the (A is for?) court. I am surprised that I wasn't wiped (or sunburned) by the end! Although the jury is still out regarding the potential sunburn.
 
We had dinner at the restaurant in our part of the resort. The Italian food was not bad, but we ended up eating outside which was annoying because I had to wear a long sleeved shirt and long pants as we had planned to eat inside the air conditioned restaurant. So I ended sweating through my shirt again.

We were planning on going to the beach this morning but our plans got derailed when Serena stomped on Elsy's face and we had to wait for the bleeding to stop. It took so long that there was a chance we needed to go to the hospital. So I am used to the soft chimes that you hear in the neighborhood when the ice cream truck comes by. This year we already had three visits, mostly on cold or rainy moments of the day. This was in contrast to the infrequent visits to our old neighborhood when I was a child. In addition, we were too poor to really enjoy a cone of soft ice cream when it did show up so I never built up that sense of tradition that others would share with their children. As suck, when the truck does drive by, I don't rush out to grab a cone for my kids. Also, the pandemic does not help either. Still, maybe one day this summer we will indulge our kids. Maybe. Oh, but that was beside the point. Today I heard the ringing of a bell. This was not the sound I'm used to for an ice cream truck so I decided to investigate with Serena. Mostly vaxxed.

So most of the family is vaccinated now. Serena is the lone outlier, and that is due to her age. Because of that, we have decided to keep her with my parents and not send her to daycare anymore until she gets both of her shots. We had pulled her out when Omicron hit this winter and was pretty hard when we tried keeping her at home, but now that Maggie is back at work we had to go back to sending her to my parents. This situation may be the norm for a while as the under five trials for the Pfizer vaccine have not gone very well. She does not really know much about what she is missing, but she really needs to build up those social skills and daycare is a great place for learning to communicate with her peers, whether physically, or virally. But with cases at the daycare every couple of weeks or so, we figure that it is best to wait just a little bit longer..
