Hanauma Bay

This was our last day in Hawaii and since our flight was leaving late a night, we had the whole day to explore and prepare for our trip home.

Due to the timing of our checkout from the resort, we had a small window in the morning to visit Hanauma Bay before we had to return, get cleaned up, and check out. This meant that we had to wake up at around six and make it to the bay just as it opened. Unfortunately, I was feeling awfully tired and figured that it would not take long to get there and that half an hour was more than long enough to explore the bay.

What I did not take into account was the fact that one needed to watch an educational documentary for fifteen minutes before you were allowed to enter the park. In addition, it takes ten minutes to walk down to the bay from the parking lot. We ended up spending fifteen minutes on the beach.

This is a lesson to all of you folks who think that "just enough time" will be just enough time.

Afterward, we headed back to the hotel to get cleaned up and had brunch at Eggs'n Things. There was a bit of a lineup, but we were in no rush. They had three syrups available to use: Maple (although I think it was table syrup), Coconut, and Guava. What an interesting selection!

We ended up seated on the balcony overlooking the street and somehow managed to order enough food to last us the rest of the week. Or at least it looked like it.

I think we ordered too much.
We spent the rest of the day picking up souvenirs for the people back home as well as a hula doll for Maggie's car, when she actually gets one.

It looked really tasty!
Eventually it got dark and we had dinner at Roy's, which we had ate at the first night we were in Honolulu. The food was good as usual, but it was sad too, being our last meal in Hawaii.

Our last meal in Hawaii was at Roy's.
The return flight was fairly uneventful.
