Los Angeles Day 4: Disneyland

We had planned to visit Disneyland with Henry and Lily today long before we bought tickets. Costco had a great deal called the Southern California CityPASS that allowed for a three day park hopper ticket Disneyland, one day at LEGOLAND, and one day at Seaworld Adventure Park at San Diego. At $410 CAD, it was a really good deal. There was one problem. When I went to purchase the card a couple of days before our flight out, I read the fine print and noticed that it was not an electronic ticket like the Go Los Angeles Card. They had to ship the card to you, and it would take 3-7 days to arrive. What the.. All of the other pass cards offered by Costco were electronic, only this one happened to be a physical one. We were both stunned, and realized that we had to purchase Disneyland tickets some other way. That is why we ended up purchasing the four day pass the day before which was an acceptable compromise.

Both Henry and Lily had annual passes and were available that day to join us. This was very useful for our first trip to Disneyland as they could help us with navigating through the park and showing us around to what we could do. We were supposed to meet up with them at the park at 0800 but we were late, but coincidentally enough, so were they. We did not meet up until 1000 by which time the park was pretty busy. We were told that weekends were worse, which is a little surprising how full the park was already.

They showed us around parts Disneyland which were good for Elsy to play around in, like Mickey's Toontown and we were able to see a lot of characters like Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy. We also went on a number of rides like the King Arthur Carrousel, "it's a small world" and the Disneyland Railroad. The Disneyland Railroad was a nice ride, with a surprise tunnel show for Elsy however, we had to get off the train early due to technical difficulties and walked back to where we parked our stroller.

Henry and Lily could not stay the whole day, so they left in the mid afternoon, but we stuck around near the entrance to watch the Pixar Play Parade before heading out.

As we wanted to continue trying out local restaurants, we went to a vegetarian Vietnamese restaurant that recommended by Lily called Hoa Sen. As it was vegetarian, we did not order the usual phở and bún. I was a little surprised to see that they had bánh xèo, which we had not had since our trip to Vietnam three years ago. The food was really good, doubly so considering that there was no meat involved!
